Biography
Paul Benjamin serves as a Fractional Chief Investment Officer with over 20 years of institutional investment experience across traditional and alternative asset classes. He supports clients throughout the investment decision-making process, designing and overseeing investment programs across public markets, hedge funds, private investments, and derivatives to improve portfolio efficiency and align portfolios with client objectives, particularly in complex or transitional environments.
Prior to joining Sackett, Paul was Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director at Cowen, where he built and led the firm's investment office and oversaw portfolio construction, asset allocation, and investment due diligence across public and private markets. He partnered closely with senior leadership and investment committees to establish governance, risk management, and decision-making frameworks.
Earlier in his career, Paul held senior investment roles at Brookfield, GM Asset Management and Alcoa, working across multiple capital pools with varying objectives and constraints. His experience spans portfolio design, manager selection, risk management, and advising investment committees. Paul is known for translating macroeconomic and market complexity into actionable portfolio decisions and providing a steady, CIO-level perspective during periods of change.
Paul holds an MBA from Cornell University – Johnson Graduate School of Management, is a CFA charter holder, serves on the board of CFA Society New York, and is based in New York. Outside of work, Paul enjoys spending time with his family and remains actively engaged in professional and community organizations.
